and the first Fearless Reader…
Before my son was born, I was pursuing my first career with a master’s degree in music therapy. Noah arrived into the world when I turned 40 and took me on a journey down a whole different pathway. An extremely bright and creative child who just couldn’t learn to read, no matter the school or teacher, my son perplexed me.
I had no clue what dyslexia was or what to do about it, so Noah became my first teacher. A dear friend led me to Barton reading tutor Judith Reising, and by the end of 5th grade, Noah could finally read and spell- because he had received the structured literacy approach that dyslexic students need.
I was intrigued by the results I had witnessed and was determined to learn the Barton program and become a certified reading tutor to share this method with others. My second career is now my passion because it began close to my heart. If your child has dyslexia, they’re brave just for entering the classroom each day. When given an Orton-Gillingham based intervention, your child will become a fearless reader, able to move on to pursue their unique talents and share their gifts with the world.
